Our client has an impeccably presented, impressively developed intensive prime lamb breeding and finishing property located in the productive high rainfall area south of Hamilton in Victoria's Southwest region. Having a long-term focus, they aim to grow a sustainable and profitable grazing enterprise that delivers enduring value. Using innovation and technology, this data and performance driven operation challenges prevailing assumptions in the elite intensive lamb production space. The business is built on family values with staff retention and safety being of utmost importance. The property is currently running 9,000 composite ewes plus progeny on dryland rotationally grazed paddocks. The farm covers 960 Ha and has been impressively developed to allow for ease of management. New fencing, water reticulation systems, undercover modern sheep handling facilities along with a new 6 stand shearing shed make this property stand out from the crowd. Twelve to thirteen thousand lambs are produced and finished annually using TRM rations under a state-of-the-art undercover feed shed allowing them to finish livestock efficiently to take advantage of the top end supermarket trade. We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and innovative Livestock Manager to drive the operation in a new position you can make your own. You will be required to lead and mentor a small team in running the daily operations. You must have a strong interest in intensive sheep breeding, and the ability to use innovation, technology, and data to track and improve performance. Reporting to the owner and working with the farm team, you will be a key person to drive the success of the operation. With already consistently high scanning rates of 160 - 170%, and weaning rates of 140%, supported by elite genetics, quality pastures and performance feeding, there is a challenge for the Livestock Manager in continuing the trajectory of improvement. The successful candidate must: Have practical experience managing a large intensively grazed sheep flock, ideally with rotational grazing, and fodder production experience. Have experience in efficient planning and reporting in a family structure. Be able to coordinate contractors for outsourced activities. Be proficient in the use of IT applications including Mobble, Word, Excel, Google Sheets etc and be prepared to learn selected agricultural data applications. Hold or be prepared to obtain appropriate licences for vehicles and machinery, First Aid Certificate, Chemical Handling certificate. Desire to grow within the role and develop skills. Be neat, tidy, in self-presentation and farm presentation. It would be preferred that the successful candidate has - Good working dog knowledge and have own dogs. Be someone looking for growth in their agricultural career. Completion of agricultural education such as degree, certificate, or short courses.
